Did you know Virgin Mobile is against manufacturer UI overlays?
Virgin is all for vanilla Android (I know, cool right?) but Virgin wants to make it clear that, while it is committed user customization needs to be within the limits of what your phone allows without any sort of hacking.
This is what the company said in response to a question about unlocked bootloaders and rooting.
“We do not endorse in any way end users using a non-officially tested operating system nor do we approve of ‘rooting’ devices. This constitutes a violation of our terms of service and puts our network in jeopardy,” a spokesperson said. “We endeavor to provide users a customizable Android experience within the limits of the tested and network approved Android OS.“
Will offering consumers a choice to have vanilla Android actually stop the people from rooting? Virgin thinks so by trying to have the last word on what goes on their Android phones.  Other U.S. carriers disapprove of rooting, but none have gone to the extreme like Virgin Mobile to fight custom overlays.
