When we all got a look at the three version of the upcoming U.S. release of the Samsung Galaxy S II, many questions started filling the air. The most important questions, as with any new device that is unveiled, “when will I be able to get one?” Sprint hit the ground running being the first of the three carriers to launch their device. Hoping to snag up as many new customers as they could before the competition made their versions available. It doesn’t always work out that way though. Many of us are loyal to our current carrier and don’t switch at the drop of a dime for a new device, especially if we know our carrier is getting one soon too.
AT&T has just announced that their Galaxy S II will be launching sooner than we all had expected. Via a tweet that they dropped not to long ago, we now know the device will be hitting consumer hands on October 2nd with a decent price tag of $200 on a two-year contract. Don’t forget about the required $15/month minimum data requirement also.
That is great news for AT&T customers who have patiently been waiting to snag one of these up. I am curious though, since this SGSII version has a smaller screen than the rest, is it still a highly sought after device? I would be a little upset if that were my carrier and be looking to make a switch to get a REAL SGSII. The only one we have left to wait on is the T-Mobile version. When will that finally touchdown? Being a T-Mobile customer myself, the waiting game is killing me. I am still not sure how the Qualcomm chip is going to play out in that device. As I see it, Sprint is the only one that has a SGSII stateside.
How are you guys feeling about this device and the changes that each carrier implemented to it? Should they have been forced to change the name if they don’t stay true to the original?
