Cm7 Alpha released for the HP TouchPad, it is an alpha for a Reason
When the HP TouchPad was discontinued there was a shopping frenzy world-wide to pick one up. Even if you weren’t snagging it in the hopes of an Android port, $99 was an unbeatable deal for a decent tablet. Since then though, the CyanogenMOD team has been laboring away at porting Android to the device. It has seen its fair share of trouble along the road, but has steadily progressing. Even a few lucky people booted their tablets on for the first time to find Android pre-installed already. That was a nice surprise. Of course HP denied that some were shipped with Android on purpose. The dev teams attempted to get them to release the source for the accidental shipments, but were shot down. HP stated they were under no legal agreement to release source for a tablet they never intended Android to be part of.
So the saga continues and the CyanogenMOD team has been plugging away to get a stable version of their software booting. They have included GPU acceleration, Wi-Fi, Audio, Accelerometer, 3D Gaming and video acceleration all up and running. Along with multi-touch support. There is still a lot of work to be done to make it a feasible Android tablet, but the CM team thought the current build is doable for those that are hard-core flashers. They have finally released the first alpha build of CM7 for the HP TouchPad.
