Games are the best time killers for the long, dragging day. Whether its burning a rope or sling shoting some frustrated birds at some fat green piggys, you can always find something to pass the time. If your like me and you get quickly get bored with those kind of games, you want something that will work the brain just a little more. Well why not challenging your friends in a word fight to the death. Dramatic I am, but Words With Friends and Wordfeud have hooked me and helps pass the time.
Now back when I was rocking my T-Mobile G1, my friend told me about Wordfeud. “It’s just like scrabble,” he said. So I downloaded it and that is where it all began. This was a game that I could play, and did not have to have it open the entire time. I could close it out and it would notify me when it was my turn to make a move. That is pretty awesome. After that, I was telling any of my friends with an Android phone to download it and challenge me to a word battle of wits. Wordfeud has a basic lay out but it is smooth, fast , and does not take up much room on your phone.
Words With Friends first started on the
Apple iOS, then soon made its way over to the better side. Now immediately I was impressed by the graphics of the game as well as the sound effects. To me, it had a little more “snazzy” to it, but it seemed glitchy and it was missing some key features. Notifications for one, unlike Wordfeud where it immediately notified you when it was my move, Words With Friends didn’t quite do this. It does have a notification setting but does not immediately notify you when its your time to play a word. Another thing it is missing, is the “random” feature. this is where the tiles are shuffled around and not in the usual pattern. Makes for big points and making your opponents cry. Time to update those features guys. Now even though it lags on those features I do, however, like that you could play people rocking iOS (although now Wordfeud is available for iOS) and the fact that you can sync it up with your Facebook contacts. That makes it a lot easier to play with your friends and show people on your newsfeed just how creative you can be with words. Honestly if you’re posting about how you made 100 points by waiting for the right tiles, you might want to think about getting a hobby.
Now with all that, I’m going to have to lean towards Wordfeud. I like its simple look, fast play, notifications, and random board. Words With Friends is still good but I find it lacking those key features and it runs slower due to its bigger size and graphics. I want to know what you guys think. Let’s put this question, that probably I’m the only one asking, to rest. Leave a comment letting us know your choice in word battle-ness and tell us why. Also if you want to challenge me, I’M READY!
