Google overhauls comments on the Android Market Website

It appears as if our prayers have been answered. Google has overhauled the comment and rating system on the Android web market to include filters for device type and version of Android. This is a huge step forward for the market, the ability to see feedback specifically for your device will drastically reduce the amount of requested refunds and unhappy customers. For example, an app may have a 4.5 star rating and work fine for phones, but when you turn on the tablet filter, other users may report that the app simply won’t run, saving you the pain of uninstalling requesting a refund.

Google also introduced the direct “Email Developer” option to the web market this week, a feature previously only seen on the mobile Android market app. Immediately I thought of the thousands of angry “This app doesn’t work!” spam messages these developers would likely see thanks to this new feature. However, this feature launched alongside the overhauled comment system, and hopefully shoppers do a little research before installing and complaining to developers.

These new features really make the Android web market feel more mature, and that’s a very good thing. Now if we just had a shopping cart option I think our market wishlist would be complete, and I’m sure everyone taking advantage of all these 10 cent apps would agree.
