Sprint Premier customers were being treated to a rather tantalizing account alert last night: “Visit us tomorrow for an exciting announcement about a groundbreaking new device.” No other details provided, but if we had to make an educated guess, we’d say all signs are pointing towards HTC’s Supersonic, the long-rumoredWiMAXsmartphone with a 4.3-inch screen and Android 2.1 with Sense UI. A 4G device would certainly fit the billing as “groundbreaking,” and we’ve already heard of plans to announce at CTIA, which officially kicks off today.
Of course, most are assuming that when Sprint says groundbreaking they mean the 4G capable HTC Supersonic. And I kind of agree, that sort of is a groundbreaking device.
Just to recap some of the features, the Supersonic will come equipped with a 4.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and be running Android 2.1 with the Sense UI.
Here is to hoping we see that announcement as rumored. If for some reason HTC Supersonic isn’t announced today, there is always hope it will be unveiled on Wednesday when Sprint CEO Dan Hesse does his keynote.
