Walking the show floor at CES can be extremely over whelming. Anyone that has ever been knows our neck ends up hurting from all the quick turns that your eyes catch. Sometimes you see something astonishing, other times you see something unexpected. So when I saw that Samsonite had a booth, I didn’t pay it any mind at first. Fully expecting them to have luggage or baggage designed to carrier your electronics. Not really what we were after. On my way past my eyes were drawn to a glass case they had just outside the booth. To my surprise, it was full of electronic accessories. All kinds of goodies really. One such goody that I eyeballed was their Battery Backup accessory.
The backup battery game has heated up over the last year or so. Especially in the Android game. Getting our power-hungry devices and our every growing desire to be on our phone constantly can really make a battery die fast. The Samsonite backup battery helps solve that issue for many people, especially if you are looking for something small, lightweight and works. The battery housed inside is a 1400mAh battery, enough juice to charge up a good portion of your device, but most likely not to 100%. It should easily give you another 40 to 50 percent without thinking twice. Sometimes that is all you need to get through the rest of the day.
Most other battery backups you can purchase offer a single cord or cable for micro USB or Apple products. Samsonite packages a total of 5 cords for you. Knowing that their customers travel often and use a wide range of devices. Each is capable of charging its respected device; Apple, Nokia, Samsung, Mini USB and a Micro USB. Each cord is only 5-inches long to save space, distance and keeping the whole thing compact. The unit its self is only just over 2-inches long. Making it a fairly small battery to pack around in your pocket, briefcase or laptop bag. There are 2 LED lights on the top of the unit to display if you are charging and if it is fully charged. The housing is aluminum with a black accent around the outside.
There isn’t a lot you can say about a battery back up. As long as it works then you are good to go. As a traveler, camper and hiker myself, it never hurts to have a little extra power available. You never know when you might need that little boost. If you are in the market for a new backup battery and are a fan of everything Samsonite produces, you might want to check this little guy out. They currently run $45 via their sales site. Alternatively, you can pick up the same unit from Amazon via the link below, for just under $32.
