Look out world, the Galaxy S III benchmarks are looking to slaughter the Competition

The Samsung Galaxy S III is shaping up to be one of, if not the best, Android phone ever produced and we don’t even know what it looks like yet. As the days to the unveiling inch closer more information and leaks keep populating our email and the web. Just enough to keep us wanting and drooling. Earlier we saw an image of another prototype version that showed us a custom on screen menu key. Still that just isn’t enough. The SGSIII also just showed up in the Samsung Kies software, even though the image clearly was a Note, Samsung is keeping every little bit of final information classified beyond presidential clearance. The latest little bit of info to make its way around is a benchmark scoring from AnTuTu.

The screeshots that are out an about have a few things to take notice of. The screen size is sitting at 4.7-inches with a resolution of 1280×720, this is pretty much what other leaks and rumors have pegged the device to be sporting. It shows a GSM version of the device which is not at all surprising. You see 1GB or RAM, a 12MP rear facing camera and a 2MP front facing camera. All of this running on Android 4.0. Where the confusion is, is the processor. While according to the graph, it out performed the Transformer Prime and is currently the reigning king of AnTuTu, the processor is returned is a Exynos 4212 at 1.4GHz. The GHz isn’t the interesting fact though. The 4212 processor is only a dual-core processor.

You can read into this in two ways. First, this could be just because AnTuTu and the Exynos quad-core ship isn’t recognized. Option 2, Samsung isn’t going with a quad-core chip in the SGS III, or this test was done on a modified 4212 chip that is inside a SGSIII for testing purposes and not the final product at all. I would like to think the first and third option are more likely. That won’t stop the rumors or the angry mob from getting all riled up though. The best thing to do is take all this information at face value, be happy to see it performing so well and wait till May 3rd to see the true story.
