One of the definite drawbacks that plagues our comminuity, is battery life. We want a phone with blazing fast power, internet that loads up faster than we think of what we are looking for, widgets that update contantly, and live wallpapers that mesmerize the eyeballs. Having all that can drain even the best batteries, in half a day.
Now with new operating systems like ICS, and developers that create kernels that are undervolted; we have seen improvement to our battery lives. Jumping from Gingerbread to ICS was definitely a great leap for Android mankind, because it runs smoother and faster and somehow conserves battery. Where am I going with all this? Simply what the title of this post states. A battery that lasts five times longer and charges within five minutes. Got chills running up my back just thinking of it.
Prieto Battery is planning on developing a new lithium-ion that lasts up to five times longer than stock batteries and charges super quick. Prieto have raised 5.5 million dollars for this project, and will hopefully get these batteries out as soon as they possibly can.
Prieto’s battery is designed to use polymer (solid state) electrolyte combined with nanotechnology to allow a greater number of lithium ions to be stored. Nano technology. That is where technology is heading. It is pretty amazing stuff as long as it is not being used to control human beings like in some crazy sci-fi movie. So what do you guys think? Get a full charge to your phone in five minutes? Probably be a pretty heft price tag attached to this battery I would think.
