Samsung hits record $5.9 billion in profits, expects bigger Q3

Pretty sure ‘I told ya so’ is in order. Well, maybe not. Still tough, it should come as no surprise that Samsung is the dominating force not only for Android but in the smartphone biz. Despite the delay’s faced for U.S. carrier launches and the shortage of devices faced globally, the Galaxy S III is seriously raking in the bucks for Samsung. Samsung is averaging 380 smartphone sales per minute around the globe. Those numbers are currently making up for 70% of all profits that Samsung is bragging about.

With the Galaxy S III hitting three of the four carriers just before Q2 ended leaves Samsung sitting in good position for a record Q3. Verizon is dropping the S III on July 10th with US Cellular somewhere in the mix as well. Demand is still extremely high as not everyone has yet to get their hands on the new flagship device just yet. They are predicting shipments for the  S III to hit around 19 million units this quarter. Looks to be a great year for Samsung. Now lets see if they can thanks us for all that money and get a timely Jelly Bean update released for all versions.
