[Rumor] HTC Might Build a new Facebook Phone in 2013

According to Bloomberg, HTC will work with Facebook to bring another Facebook phone to the market next year like it did in 2011 with the ChaCha and the Salsa, which we all know weren’t big hits. And there’s a good reason they weren’t successful, and it’s a simple one: no one wants a Facebook button on an Android phone when you have the share option accessible from everywhere.

Maybe we’ll see something different this time around, probably with Facebook more involved with some sort of app development and integration to the phone, since Facebook realized that they must be deeper in the mobile market if they want to keep on top of the game.

Bloomberg says that it might be something closer to the Kindle Fire where Android is completely forked and without access to the Google Apps. I personally don’t see that happening since neither Facebook or HTC have big content stores, or mail services or many other things that are a must for a smartphone like Amazon has, but we’ll have to wait and see what these two companies come up with.

We’ll keep you posted when more details begin to surface.
