OTA update for T-Mobile Galaxy Note, yes, before it is even Available

We all love updates to our devices. Primarily we love updates that take our device to the next Android OS version available, but we will take fixes any day of the week. Is releasing a bug fix update before the device even launched good thing though? T-Mobile has taken their sweet time getting the Galaxy Note into customer hands, it seems like any possible bugs should have already been worked out.

While the update seems to only solve some fairly minor details, it is still better to address them early rather then wait on T-Mobile for a fix. The update will fix the following issues –

Improvements

  • Error: ‘Enter MAC address’ after entering MAC address
  • Weather widget does not show current location
  • MobileLife contacts addresses combined into a single field

Again, they don’t seem like terribly destructive bugs that will completely ruin a users experience of the device. It is however nice to solve before everyone brings down the fire and brimstone about the issues. The update will be landing officially on August 8th, which is launch day for the famed phablet device. So new customers and people aiming to upgrade to the Note should be greeted with an update right out of the box. If you happen to get yours inside a store we are certain that most reps will get the update handled for you before you leave. If it doesn’t pop up, hopefully they let you know about it and how to use Samsung Kies to do it manually if you choose.
