This is the first time we’ve heard numbers on how the Nexus 7 is doing on the street. We know everyone loves it, but we didn’t know if people were buying it. It turns out they are. According to ASUS, the Nexus 7 is selling 1 million units a month while also giving some number on how it started.
Asustek CFO David Chang said:
“At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to 1 million.”
Obviously, Google hit all the right spots with the N7 including good quality, great software and a low price. We’ll just have to wait and see how the 32GB version and the Nexus 10 will do in the next few months.
This is good news for Android fans everywhere. More tablets means more market share. More market share means more developer interest in creating great tablet apps.
