AT&T launching the Samsung Galaxy Camera on November 16th, anyone can get One

There she is. The Samsung Galaxy Camera. It was recently made available for purchase over in the UK, but is making its way to U.S. shores this Friday. AT&T will be officially launching the Galaxy Camera on November 16th. The camera packs in a quad-core 1.4GHz processor, a 4.8 HD Super Clear LCD Screen, 21x optical zoom and 16MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor. It is powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and even has access to the full suite of apps in the Play Store.

“By connecting the Samsung Galaxy Camera through the AT&T wireless network, users can instantly share photos, giving family and friends a glimpse into their favorite holiday moments,” said Chris Penrose, senior vice president, AT&T Emerging Devices. “Customers will receive $100 off the purchase of the new Samsung Galaxy Camera when they purchase any Samsung Galaxy smartphone, making the Samsung Galaxy Camera the perfect gift this holiday season.”

It is a pretty unique little device. We imagine the camera quality is pretty sharp. Combine it with a data plan on AT&T’s network and you have a powerful point and shoot style digital camera that can also keep you entertained.

The camera will be launching for $499.99. That is with, or without a contract. No subsidized pricing here. Not all that surprising since tablets have gone full retail as connected devices instead of profitable products for carriers to sell. Just not enough volume. However, they are offering up $100 off on a second purchase of a Samsung connected device with the purchase of the camera. Meaning you can take an additional $100 off the price of a second camera purchase or even off the price of a new Samsung phone with new contract of course.

The Galaxy Camera will have access AT&T Locker, a free and easy-to-use photo and video sharing service for AT&T customers.  AT&T Locker users get 5 GB of storage for free – enough for 5,000 average sized photos.  AT&T Locker provides users the ability to upload images and video to secure online storage and quickly share on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or e-mail.  Users can create and customize albums for photos and video on the device or online in the AT&T Locker website.
