According to Korean news agency Yonhap, LG has (finally) sold 1 million Optimus G’s since its launch last year. While the Optimus G has not seen anywhere near the amount of sales the Galaxy Note II has seen (5+ million) and even the continuous growth of the Galaxy S III’s sales,  It’s one step closer to achieving LG’s goal of selling 45 million smartphones in 2013.
It’s questionable as to whether LG will reach their goal of 45 million smartphones shipped this year. We’ve already seen the piles of complaints from potential Nexus 4 owners who claim to never purchase an LG device again because they “can’t meet the demand.” While LG may be making a big Nexus 4 push come mid-February, they proved that they obviously have trouble keeping up with such high demands.
The Optimus G has yet to launch in China, but an LG representative recently confirmed that the device would be making its way to European shores later this quarter. Who knows, maybe it will take off big in those locations. Best of luck LG, hope things pan out well for you this year.
