The head of Samsung Mobile, J.K. Shin has now confirmed that an 8-inch Note will be making headlines at Mobile World Congress next month in Spain. It really isn’t all that surprising that Samsung is shooting to the 8-inch screen size. After all, they love to hit Apple where it hurts the most and that would be going after their iPad Mini. If the suspected model numbers are indeed the new Note 8, then pulling in the 1280 x 800 display resolution will be much-loved across the globe.
Internal specs are sure to include a quad-core Exynos 4412 at 1.6 GHz, minimum. We fully expect Samsung to dumb 2GB of RAM in the device as well. Memory wise, judging by Samsung’s past history, we are also expecting a 16GB and 32GB model variant. Not to mention sticking with removable memory. Talks put a 4600 mAh battery in the back and there will, as always, be a set of cameras available for use as well. Oh, and Android 4.2 should be the launch OS of choice.
Much of this is all based on the benchmarks related to the GT-N5100 and GT-5110. Mr. Shin hasn’t shared much more than the fact that the screen size will indeed be 8-inches. With Samsung’s current reign over the Android world, an 8-inch model that packs in the goods of the Note 10.1 with the same resolution but on a less expensive price tag has a lot of potential. The real question is will you buy one?
