Notification integration making its way to Chromium

Chrome Android
Yesterday was all a flutter with an image of a new chrome looking Android statue poking its head out at the Google complex. (as seen above) It was not aimed at starting a war on the new Android OS version. Especially since it wasn’t placed on the front lawn with the rest of the other statues. We had a feeling that it was more aimed at something that was coming in the Chrome OS that would be more Android like. Seems that notion is on the right track.

A new notification center has been added to the latest build of of the Chromium.

An option to “Enable Rich Notifications” within chrome://flags was found by François Beaufort, which then allows notifications generated by a Chrome extension or HTML5 coding to generate the cards. The notifications box itself includes an option to ammend notification settings, and to clear all stacked notifications as well.

Sounds an awful lot like Google Now cards are headed to Chromium. This would be a great thing really. It would easily be synced already to your Android device giving you a similar card experience on your Chromebook. Essentially tying the Chromebooks, Android tablets and phones closer together.
