Logitech UE Mobile Boombox Bluetooth Speaker Review
The Logitech UE Mobile Boombox is one of the first speakers to come from the recent acquisition of Ultimate Ears by Logitech. The new division they created is focused on mobile sounds from headphones and earphones to various sized boomboxes.
The Logitech UE Mobile Boombox is the smallest of the boombox series and has a big brother too called the Logitech UE Boombox.  We should be getting one of those for comparison before long. They also have a much larger system for use at home that goes by the name of the Logitech UE Air Speaker, but were not sure of the future of this beast.
In a nutshell, the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox is a very compact Bluetooth speaker with a built-in rechargeable battery, hands free speakerphone support with its built-in mic and line input for those of you still toting non Bluetooth enabled music players.
The Packaging
The first thing that grabs your attention is the intricately designed packaging the UE Mobile Boombox comes in. It’s more along the lines of a crystal case you might find a top end watch packed in, but much bigger.
It actually took me a few minutes to find a way in as the seam was hard to find. But it was worth the effort.
The Contents
Inside the box you’ll find the speaker, a wall charger with detachable USB cable along with a few instruction sheets and brochures. Â everything feels like it was manufactured to last, and the quality products you’d expect from this new company.
The Speaker
The outer casing is rugged rubberized material with a soft touch feel. It sure does feel well-built. It weighs in at only 10.5 ounces so it’s incredibly easy to toss in your Backpack or hand bag and carry to the beach, hiking, or other fun locations.
On the top of the device you’ll find three buttons kind of hidden beneath the outer skin, but clearly marked by Plus, Minus and Bluetooth symbols. The buttons are very nicely done and keep the unit completely sealed, adding to the ruggedness of the casing.
The sides of the speaker adorn UE logos while the bottom is completely blank. In fact, the bottom is so blank, not even feet protrude.  The overall design is very nice indeed.
The rear of the device is covered in a metal grill with a Power Switch, USB Connector and AUX port connector.  It nice to see a mechanical button for a change.  Many device now power off by holding down a button for a period of time, but it just feels good sliding an actual mechanical switch across.

The Sounds
The Logitech UE Mobile Boombox was Bluetooth paired to my phone within seconds and the rest was simply a breeze.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sounds this little bad boy produces. Don’t get me wrong, you’re not going to be hosting any parties with it, but for its size, it’s an awesome personal device.
Before I put the review together, I had a friend use it for a while. He took it golfing and used it at work and he sure didn’t want to hand it back. We talked a lot about the device and he gave me his opinions and notes to add to the review.
It might not produce the deepest bass you’ve ever heard, but it’s acceptable, and it never distorted when we pump up the volume with deep sounds.
Here’s a short video from Logitech showing the US Mobile Boombox in action.
The Conclusion
For its size and price range, this is one of the best mobile speakers I’ve used. Yes, there are bigger ones that produce better sound and deeper bass, but nothing as small as the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox.
I’m going to have to give this a big thumbs up and a 5 out of 5 rating. It’s priced great, sounds awesome for its size and feels like it’s going to last a long time. Awesome Job Logitech UE.
