I remember the days of popping in the Nintendo cartridge that had both Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt, and shooting some good ole’ ducks flying in the sky. It was fun, especially since the Nintendo came with its own gun to shoot at the screen. Well that little bit of nostalgia can be resurrected with Duck Retro Hunt.
Duck Retro Hunt brings that old 2D 16-bit game, and throws it into a 3D grid. It is almost like you have set foot into a futuristic room that projects virtual reality for you can interact with. It is pretty sexy stuff, and even though the Duck graphics do not look exactly like the original game, it will still bring you back.
When you first start Duck Retro Hunt, you are given three different styles of games. First there is touch. Touch is simply using you one thumb to guide your gun, and one thumb to shoot it. It can be a little difficult to get use to at first, but once you do, shooting those ducks are easy. Next, we have Gyro. Gyro is probably where people will flock to, because it uses your device’s sensors to point your gun. Now you will have a free thumb, and it gives you a more real kind of way to aim for those ducks. Finally, there is AR Mode. I really did not try this mode out much, because it uses your camera to shoot at things that are around you. The first thing it said to shoot was the back of one dollar bill. I did not have one, so I just stuck with playing with Gyro mode.
You also have the option to access the game center and you can compare scoreboards to others that have played the game. Overall, this game can get pretty addicting. Sometimes though, the calibration on the Gyro mode can get a little loopy, but it was not that much of a nuisance. There is a free version and a pro version, so try out the free version before you decide to purchase the full version. Let u know how you like it.
