Facebook Voice Arrives In A Messenger Update

Facebook-Messenger-for-Android-v2.2.1

Well Facebook has just added another update to their Messenger application. This updates comes hot on the heels of their recent release of the Facebook “Home” app along with Chat Heads, which was a bigger hit than Facebook Home itself. With this update they introduce the ability to chat with your Facebook friends with your voice, you know like a phone call. The way they figure it is all your Facebook friends are already on there why not talk to them with your voice and give your thumbs a rest from that exhausting typing (sarcasm). The difference here is that this uses your data to conduct the call and it’s free, which is nice, but with so many apps like Tango, Viber, and even Gtalk which comes with every Android device it feels like Facebook is bringing in this feature a bit too late in the game.

I don’t know about you guys but this isn’t something I see myself using. I have a Facebook account but for the most part it just sits there like my Myspace account (Queue High School Flashback).  So does this update mean anything to anyone else? Do you see yourself using the new Voice feature for Facebooks Messenger app? Let me know in the comments below.
