In an apparent email to developers, it looks like Adobe AIR will be landing in the Android Market on October 8th. The email states that Adobe AIR is in the final phase and that they encourage developers to test their application with the latest AIR build.
To explain what AIR is in a simple way, AIR will allow Adobe Flash applications to run outside of the browser as if they are installed on your device, another plus is that with with AIR, multiple platform apps are more realistic as AIR allows only minor changes to be made in order for the app to run on the Android platform.
