Looks like Google lost the Android sales app race in China over the weekend. Amazon has just made it possible for those in China to buy Android apps through the Amazon App Store for their Android devices. The Google Play Store still only offers free apps in their version of the app. This gives Amazon a leg up in the market and could potentially help those developers who have paid apps available, see a little more profit overseas.
While the situation isn’t ideal, and plenty of developers don’t have their apps in the Amazon store, it is a start in the right direction for everyone. It can’t hurt anyways. Now that the Amazon app store can sell apps in China, this should open the door for Amazon to get their hardware selling in the country as well. After all, what good is a Kindle Fire when you don’t have access to anything?
