Amazon thanks the FAA with a 15% off sale on Kindle Fire HDX and HD

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX HD FAA
What better way to thank the FAA then put some devices on sale to get more users on the plane? In case you are unaware of what just went down, much like me, the FAA has changed their guidelines today that allow users of mobile devices to keep them on from takeoff to landing. You do need to switch it over to AirPlane mode though, which makes sense. It certainly beats having to turn it off and back on all the time though.

Passengers will eventually be able to read e-books, play games, and watch videos on their devices during all phases of flight, with very limited exceptions. Electronic items, books and magazines, must be held or put in the seat back pocket during the actual takeoff and landing roll. Cell phones should be in airplane mode or with cellular service disabled – i.e., no signal bars displayed—and cannot be used for voice communications based on FCC regulations that prohibit any airborne calls using cell phones.    If your air carrier provides Wi-Fi service during flight, you may use those services.  You can also continue to use short-range Bluetooth accessories, like wireless keyboards.

It is still up to the specific Airline on how or if they will ultimately allow you to or not. On to the buying side of things now. Amazon is so happy that the FAA changed their guidelines on this, that they want to help you get a Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, Kindle Fire HD or the regular Kindle for a little bit less. As you see in the image above, you can take an additional 15% off you purchase with the promo code ThnksFAA at checkout.

There are some limits. The code only will be applied on a per device bases. So you can’t order 3 at once. It is only valid for one of the three devices listed. Meaning, don’t try to snag the Kindle Fire HDX 8-inch, because it won’t do you any good. The deal is good only in the United States. Finally, and most importantly, the deal is only good for today.
