Apex Launcher updates with new features, improvements and adds new Pro Version

In the world of home replacement apps there are many to choose from. When it comes to ones that are built, designed and function like the stock ICS launcher but with more options, there are only two, Nova and Apex. They were both created by two separate developers to offer up a more customized home approach to stock or even customized ICS based devices. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was the primary focus, but of course with older devices already running custom ICS ROMs and other devices getting their official update around the globe, the launchers are gaining more users.

While both launchers are fairly similar, some people have better luck with one instead of the other. On Friday the free version of Apex launcher updated while simultaneously dropping a Pro version of the app too. Below is what you can expect to find in the most recent update –

What’s in this version:

  1. Apex Launcher Pro is now on Google Play!
  2. v1.1.0
  3. Added pinch in gesture option
  4. Launch shortcut option for gestures
  5. Added vertical dock margin option
  6. Added Root Helper (see tips)
  7. Wallpaper mode option (see tips)
  8. Improved performance and reduced redraws
  9. Improved gestures
  10. Fixed a landscape dock bug
  11. Fixed a bug with vertical drawer
  12. Various optimizations and bug fixes
  13. Updated translations
  14. New permissions are used for unread count notifications in the pro version.

The Pro version of the app is a just a licence key. It unlocks some of the Pro only features you will find inside the free version. With more devices landing like the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint, The HTC One S for T-Mobile and the soon to launch HTC One X for AT&T, having launcher options is a good thing. IF you haven’t given Apex launcher feel free to grab the free version below and give it a shot. If you find yourself loving it and want to not only support the developers but gain a few more perks then pick up the pro key. Don’t forget, much like Nova launcher, Apex launcher only works on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) based devices.
