The GamePad features 14 physical buttons and dual-analog thumb-sticks to make playing your favorite games a little easier. The screen is 7-inches at a resolution of 1024×600 and weighs in at just 330g. It is also pretty darn slim at only 10 mm. It is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean being pushed by a dual-core 1.6GHz processor and a quad-core Mali 400 MP GPU. Internal memory is only 8GB, but does support a micro SD card slot with support for up to a 64GB card. To make it even better, they also included an HDMI out port so that you can toss your favorite Android games to the big screen and still have a controller in had for playing.
“Android device users spend more than 9 hours a month gaming on their devices and yet are not completely satisfied with the touch-screen experience,†says Henri Crohas, Founder and CEO of ARCHOS. “We feel this area of gaming is proven and will continue to grow. With the introduction of the GamePad we are uniquely positioned to feed the demand of gamers who want a better gaming experience on a tablet.â€
We would have to agree with Henri. The mobile gaming industry is getting better and better every day. With games like Shadowgun, the Modern Combat series, Need for Speed Most Wanted and so many more high-end titles always on the way, having a permanent game pad always available that is easy to use makes it nice. The GamePad even has its very own mapping tool available so you can map the physical keys to any game you want even if it isn’t already supported by the GamePad.
