Chrome for Android drops its beta tag; Brings stability, bug fixes and minor UI Adjustments

Like many of you out there, we were just as caught up in the Google I/O keynotes and information blast as everyone else was. So much great news in such a short amount of time. It was craziness. During all the insanity we missed a few things that I am sure some of you missed too. While they were talking about he Nexus 7 tablet, they mentioned that Chrome would be the default web browser. This is pretty awesome news, as it is the first device to utilize Chrome exclusively and not as an after thought install. They did however, fail to mention if Chrome would be the default browser in Android Jelly Bean going forward, or if it was just limited to the Nexus 7.

Not that any of that matters so much since the Chrome is available in the app store as a free install. Google managed to slip a stable build of the latest Chrome for Android into the Play Store last night, bringing it to version 18.0.1025123. Beyond it dropping its long standing beta tag, the update provides some much needed stability improvements, bug fixes and some small UI adjustments, especially for tablets.

If you have yet to update your Chrome browser head in to the Play Store and check the my apps section. Other wise you are free to click or scan the QR code below. Don’t forget, THe Chrome Browser only works with Android 4.0 and up.
