Huiwei Ideos AKA T-Mobile Comet: Photos and More

We reported earlier this month, (HERE), that the Ideos was looking to be released on November 3rd. It brought along some pretty bland specs as well.

  • Android 2.2
  • 2.8 inch QVGA display
  • 3 megapixel camera
  • 528 MHz processor

This device is definitely aimed toward first-time Android users. We can only hope that the price for this device is also aimed at bringing more people on board with Android. A common question I have heard is “How well will it run Froyo 2.2?” That’s a good question. Looking into the recent release for Froyo updates to the Original MyTouch 3G, I’d say it should run pretty well.  I can see how people that might be afraid to drop $200 to $500 on a phone might find this device appealing. Personally I’m just glad it’s not another 1.5 or 1.6 device! Here are a few more photos of this device paired up against the other latest edition to the line up, the LG Optimus T.

I also located a pretty good looking video of this device from the U.K. Enjoy!

Doesn’t look too bad. With all the rage being 4″ screens and huge processing power I can see how this approach to ease more people into Android might work. Size does matter to some. Only time will tell if this new device will be a success or a failure. What is everyone’s take on the Ideos? Are you looking forward to it? Is it because you are coming from a My Touch 3G and you like smaller phones? Let us know! I’m curious to see. Personally I can’t ever go below a 4″ screen ever again.
