Commercial Project Tango tablet could come from Google and LG

Project TangoThe Project Tango tablet has been showcased by Google at various times as a prototype and has shown itself to be an exciting  exercise in what Android can do outside of just being used as an idle device. The ability to make 3D maps and take advantage of augmented reality makes it a very interesting prospect for budding developers and enthusiasts alike. We wouldn’t have thought that the tablet would transfer terribly well to a commercial setting, but the word on the street is that Google and LG will be teaming up to create a commercial Project Tango tablet and release it sometime next year.

There aren’t any solid details on what hardware the tablet will have or even when to expect it, but if it is anything like the Developer’s Kit that was announced earlier this month, which has the new NVIDIA Tagra K1 processor, then it should be a very impressive piece of hardware. Project Tango is currently being developed by ATAP, Motorola’s Advanced Technology and Projects group that was acquired by Google when Motorola Mobility was sold to Lenovo.
