Samsung’s Project J is a line of products, fitness device in the Mix?

Samsung Active Project J
Putting the puzzle pieces together of what Samsung or another company is up to is always a good time. Whether or not the leaks, hints, rumors or speculation ever come to life is a whole different story. We have all seen and heard of various accessories being created by various manufacturers for supposed upcoming devices. Those devices don’t always pan out in the end. However, it is a good indicator that something is being worked on.

We have all heard the Project J name that surfaced in reference to the Samsung Galaxy S IV. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that the Galaxy S IV isn’t a real device. Guess what, next year it will be the Galaxy S V. It is fact. What it looks like and what it can or can’t do is the mystery. Project J expands beyond just the Galaxy S IV though. Apparently the name of the project has been changed slightly and has various additional code names attached. You have Project J Altius, Galaxy S IV. There is Project J Mini, the Galaxy S IV Mini ( which also has a Serrano code name). And then there is the Project J Active with another code name of Fortius.

Why the explanation of code names? Because various code names have been discovered attached to various accessories. While HDTV adapters  Wireless Charging kits and Flip covers are all cool, it is the accessories that have been listed for the Project J Active (Fortius). There is apparently an Arm Band, Bike Mount and a Pouch. So what could this be all about? With the listed accessories we can take a stab in the dark and say that it sounds like the Fortius is going to be some sort of fitness device. Like the MotoActv was, sort of. This is just a guess based on the additional Arm Band, Bike Mount and Pouch. Obviously it will be bigger than a wristwatch or the accessory list would have been ‘Wrist Band” instead of Arm Band and why would you need a pouch or bike mount for a watch. Most likely it will have training apps, distance traveled, probably Bluetooth and a headphone jack for music and a number of key elements. More so like the IceTouch and MyFit PMP’s that they launched back in 2010.

SamMobile is speculating it to be Samsung’s answer to the rumored Apple iWatch, but we don’t think so. The accessories don’t line up for a watch in our opinion. Keep in mind, the Altius (Galaxy S IV) and Mini (Galaxy S IV Mini) are dead set to be real and announced. The Active Fortius is not. It could make the stage at Samsung’s Unpacked event, but we aren’t really expecting it to be.

What would you guess Samsung is up to with the Active Fortius? Is it simply the next Galaxy Player, or more of a fitness trainer personal media player like the MyFit? I would like to think Samsung is making one hell of a watch to accompany the Galaxy S IV though.
