Disclaimer: the picture above is just an artist’s impression of what a Samsung smart watch might look like, so don’t get too excited. Phandroid has been doing some trademark spying and has found one particular entry relating to the “Samsung GEAR” which on its own could apply to basically anything Samsung can make, but was accompanied by a secondary trademark which pertains to watches, clocks and wrist-worn devices which are capable of communicating with smartphones and other devices wirelessly. So unless Samsung is planning a line of NFC bracelets, this Samsung GEAR sounds like a pretty good bet to relate to a Samsung smart watch.
The smart watch game looks to be heating up again after some quiet time, presumably as companies actually had to figure out how to build the things instead of just saying they would, and with everyone apparently playing catch-up to Sony’s announcement of their SmartWatch 2. Though if these trademarks exist already, we shouldn’t be too far off hearing something from Samsung’s take on smart watches.
