Cyanogen has been working his developer magic once more and mixed up a cool bag of tricks that will hopefully make every Dream/Magic user very very happy.
So what did he pull out of his magic hat this time you ask?
He was quoted on his twitter feed saying:
“So a funny thing just happened with Eclair on the Dream/Magic….. 🙂  We just got hardware-accelerated video playback working 🙂 “
This is good news for us with a Dream or Magic phone.  We should soon see Android 2.1 running on our phones!
I hit up Cyanogen on chat and asked what the scoop was and apparently he took some of the drivers from the Droid Eris 2.1 leaked ROM and some of open source code from qualcomm /codeaurora, mixed it all together using to his Cyanongen Pixie dust and may have got the Video Hardware Acceleration on Android 2.1 for the T-Mobile G1/HTC Dream and T-Mobile MyTouch3G/HTC Magic.
It’s very early for any confirmation that this can be used for general consumption but it’s looking good.
We’ve all got our fingers crossed that this heads in the right direction and at last maybe we may see some Android 2.1 Accelerated goodness added to your favorite first generation Android devices.
