Disneyland is no longer the happiest place in the world, for selfie stick users at least. News has dropped today that Disney has banned the selfie stick from being used on any of the rides or attractions at its theme parks for reasons rooted in safety, not only to wielders of the selfie stick but others as well. Disney provided the following image to illustrate why it is implementing these steps:
In actuality, Disney has been enforcing this rule for some time now as the warning “please keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times” applies equally to the selfie stick as it does to bodily appendages. This official release was more of a way to make it equally obvious to the public as well as its own employees that they have the ability to act accordingly when a selfie stick is used incorrectly. Naturally, selfie sticks are not banned from Disney theme parks in general so you’ll still be allowed to poke out someone’s eye while walking backwards filming yourself.
