Record sales for the Samsung Galaxy S6 expected, shortage of S6 Edge imminent

Samsung needed a winner in its 2015 flagship and all indications are saying that Samsung is expecting record sales for the Samsung Galaxy S6. Mission accomplished, right? Well, Samsung is actually going to have its work cut out for it keeping up with the demand, not only for the flat-screened Galaxy S6, but particularly for the Galaxy S6 Edge whose curved screen is much harder to manufacture. As one analyst put it, “demand for the [S6 Edge] will exceed supply throughout this year. That means average selling price will fall at a slower rate, which will have a positive impact on Samsung overall.”

This is important as Samsung’s previous success with the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 happened because of Samsung’s ability to capitalize on profits while the device’s price was still high. So good are the Galaxy S6’s prospects that analysts estimate that Samsung will be able to sell 50 million Galaxy S6’s in just this year, which can be seen as a huge plus considering that Samsung is manufacturing the processor themselves and keeping the profit there. We’ll have to see if this all turns into tangible profits come quarterly financial update time.
