You may have heard on the grapevine that a new Google Play Services was incoming, bringing with it a slew of updates that would improve your Android device’s… services. Well, Google Play Services 4.3.23 is now here, and we can tell you that it does bring in some really nice improvements, not least of all, introducing cross-platform turn-based and real-time multiplayer games between Android and iOS.
In Google Play Services 4.3.23, the Analytics and Tag Manager APIs are being incorporated into Google Play Services, which should help with more timely and consistent updates for the services. The update also adds the Drive and Address APIs which will enable developers the chance to make the Google Drive and shopping experiences better, respectively.
Probably the biggest changes in this iteration of Google Play Services are the changes to Google Play Games which adds game gifts, which gives players the opportunity to ‘gift’ virtual items to people in their Google+ circles or through a player search. As we mentioned before, this update will also provide the tools to let Android and iOS do battle in real-time and turn-based games, something which avid gamers have been wondering about for a long time now.
The rollout of Google Play Services 4.3.23 is said to be a gradual one, but if you can’t wait to get your hands on the update, we’ve got the .apk available below for download:
