While I do enjoy what Google Play Magazines has to offer, I often times find myself frustrated with the amount of lag and the lack of certain features I feel are important to any magazine experience. Therefore, I went to every corner of the Earth (a.k.a. Google) to find a decent magazine app. In my endeavors, I stumbled upon an app by the name of Next Issue. Much to my surprise, it satisfied my desire for a good magazine app with flying colors.
Next Issue has two options: You can import your current subscription of a magazine, or you can buy one of their monthly subscription plans. While this does not offer every magazine out there, it offers a nice selection and is a great application for the casual reader. Best of all, it allows you to have access to back issues of magazines, something that Google is too cheap to do not a fan of. Also, do not think that you will be left with just swiping boring pages left to right. The magazines are interactive, so you won’t miss anything by going from Google Play to Next Issue.
Therefore, whether you are a casual or avid reader, this app is definitely worth taking a look at. Not confident in what Next Issue has to offer? Don’t worry, there is FREE 30 day trial available so that you can test the waters before you dive in head first. I have been using it with my current subscription of Time Magazine and I absolutely love it. Side note for Time Magazine subscribers: There is a “Boston Marathon Bombing” Exclusive issue that is ONLY available digitally for tablets (guidelines set by Time), and this app gave it to me, Google Play did not. Go and check it out, you won’t regret it.
