Android’s most popular check-in application, Foursquare, just received an update in the Market. As with all of Foursquare’s new versions, the latest offering is labeled by date as 2011.12.20, and brings along with it a newly redesigned User page. It looks as though the app developers are joining in the Ice Cream Sandwich craze, as the look of the new “Me” page looks very reminiscent of Android 4.0. I’m a big fan of what Google has done with their new UI, and I’m glad to see other developers working to make sure everything looks smooth with the updated OS.
Foursquare has also added better handling for duplicate venue adding, which only makes sense — after all, how many times have you went to check in at a venue only to find two or three places with the same name, and only one of them is the “official” venue. I’m sure this has happened to and annoyed more than one of you, so this new addition should help make your social check-ins a bit more manageable.
The changelog also lists “bucketing check-ins on check-in page” and “Splash screen gallery”, but I haven’t quite figured out what these features do just yet. Of course, I only checked for a few seconds before rushing off to the laptop to share this post with you folks, cuz that’s how much I love you all. If you’re ready to grab your update, click or scan the link below.
