While the huge $1 billion Samsung vs Apple case took the spotlight, most of us might have forgotten the sales ban of the Galaxy Nexus. The U.S. Court of Appeals lifted the ban 74 days after it was put into effect by Judge Lucy Koh. Since the lifting, Samsung has been vocal, releasing this statement surely written by a lawyer.
“Samsung welcomes this reversal by the Federal Circuit as yesterday’s decision confirms that the role of patent law is to protect innovation and not to unreasonably stifle and restrict consumer choice. We will continue to take all appropriate measures to ensure the availability of our innovative products”
With the new Nexus phone around the corner along with the fact one could still buy a Gnex without issue during the injunction, whether or not this makes a big change remains to be seen. I believe this is a big  for the consumer though and will supply Samsung with ammunition for future court cases.  Needless to say, this won’t be the last patent case we have to deal with.
