Gingerbread update rolling via OTA for T-Mobile G2X, maybe 3rd time will be the Charm

The T-Mobile G2X is another one of those devices that just can’t seem to catch a break. This will make attempt number 3 in getting the Gingerbread update out to its users. The first time it was via wonderful LG desktop software, that was soon scrapped. Then there was an OTA update that didn’t seem to get a happy reception. Now T-Mobile and LG are trying for the third time to get your device updated to Gingerbread.

The update will bring –

  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS
  • Improved battery life
  • Improved front-facing camera operation when using Qik record and share
  • Improved disabling of Car Home
  • Helps address unexpected reboots

If hitting the update button a million times isn’t your cup of tea, and waiting any longer will force you into a mental hospital, there is another option. You can head over to LG’s site and get the drivers, support tools and instruction to update your device manually by connecting it to your PC.

Happy updating. Next up should be Ice Cream Sandwich. No idea how long that might take though.
