Google Drive goes official, get your free storage Now
Google has finally made the official announcement of its cloud based storage system called Drive. Giving us all another option to Dropbox, Box.net and a few others. Drive lets you search through your uploaded files using keywords. It will scan the titles and the document text and return the files that fit your search criteria. Even if you are searching for a funny photo that has text overlapped, Google can locate it using what is called Optical Character Recognition. You also have a sort feature that let you sort via name, owners and more.
One the more prominent features that has been implemented is collaboration. Much like you can collaborate in Google Docs, so can you collaborate in your Drive account. You can also comment on a document without altering the original file at all.
As many had hoped, Google is offering the service free of charge to anyone that wishes to use it. You get your account up and running and they give you 5GB of free storage with options to buy more at a very reasonable rate. For instance, you can snag an additional 25GB per month for only $2.49 or 100GB for $5.00 per month. If that still isn’t enough for you or your business though, Google also has 1TB available for $50 per month.
To make you life as easy as possible, you will want to grab the desktop app from Google Drive’s site first, then hit the QR code below to get the app installed on your Android device. alternatively, you don’t need the desktop app, but it is nice to have it available.
