Google has begun rolling out a number of updates for their apps in the Play Store today. Earlier we alerted Nexus, GPE and Android One users that there is a new app, Device Assist, that is now live for you to get your hands on. While limited to Lollipop running devices, and mostly to the US, it is still a step in the right direction. As for apps with updates though we know that there are minor updates to Google Maps, Gmail, Google Play Music, Google Play Games, Chrome Beta, Google+, Android Wear and Google Text-to-Speech. There are sure to be others and we will keep our eyes peeled for them. While not all of them are monumental updates, one such update to a fairly popular app does add in some changes that were definitely worth alerting you guys too. Among the updates is a new version of Google News & Weather. There are sure to be some under the hood changes, but the Play Store doesn’t seem to offer up any “What’s New” details for us just yet. However, we do have the APK and there are some visual changes that some might be rather thrilled to see. First up, a simple little toggle to switch the app, when opened, from the classic Google White cards look to a dark theme. I know this might seem small to outsiders, but many of us have been hounding for the ability to toggle apps to dark themes natively versus having to install modified versions of Google apps to achieve it.
