Google Play Gift Cards landing page goes live, purchase locations Listed

There you have it. Google has pushed the button to share the official Play Store gift card landing page with the world. It shows off a few images of the cards in their packaging on the right and a little description on the left. We knew Target was stocking them already and had them on the sales floor, now we get to see that Radio Shack and Gamestop are in the mix as well. You won’t see a whole lot of info in the Play Store though, just that you can’t use them for app or magazine subscriptions or hardware or accessory purchases.

Beyond the Google Play Store landing page, Google also made the help page live too. It goes over the basics of how to use a gift card and how to redeem it. It also lets you know that the gift cards are only available in the U.S. for the time being. The cards may also only be used for purchases that are listed in dollars. So if you take your gift card and ship it to a buddy in Germany as a present, he can’t use it because everything there is in euros. Similarly if you go visit your buddy, you can’t use it either. We assume that any country that uses U.S. dollars as the currency shouldn’t have an issue though.

With the cards on the shelves for purchase and the landing and help pages up, all that is left is to activate the service in the Play Store. Bet we see that update hitting devices extremely soon. We would guess that it is probably already being pushed out now, but we haven’t seen it yet. We will keep our eyes peeled for it though and let you know.
