Google won’t be updating the Nexus One to Ice Cream Sandwich, back to relying on the Devs

Yesterday we posted up one engineers list of HTC devices that could potentially get Ice Cream Sandwich. The Nexus One was definitely part of that list. I personally had fully expected Google to make an update for this iconic device. As technology advances even the best of devices get left behind  sometimes.

Google’s Hugo Barra let the Telegraph know that the Nexus One is just to old for an update. Even though Google may not make an official ICS OTA for your beloved Nexus One that their won’t be some icy love coming your way. The N1 is one of the most developer friendly devices available. Heck, we already saw a fairly good-looking SDK port up and running on the device and it looks to be running pretty well. We also know that when AOSP drops there will be CM9, of course that will be made for the N1 too. If you have been holding off on rooting and learning your device, we might suggest you start getting familiar with it now. After all, custom ROMs will be your only hope of ICS without buying a new device.

Way to let me down Google, we still love you though.
