We’ve suspected for some time now that the HTC One will be coming in both a super-sized and fun-sized version. According to German news site Mobile Geeks, the HTC One ‘Max’ will be coming to us in September and the smallest variant of the One, the One ‘Mini’ will be apparently releasing this month.
The specifications for the One Mini are decidedly unambitious, which we’ve come to expect from these downsized flagship devices, featuring a 4.3 720p screen and a Snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.4GHz. The HTC One Max on the other hand, appears to be much better equipped, apparently ready to feature the Snapdragon 800 processor at 2.3GHz, a 6-inch 1080p display, a 3,200mAh battery and comes in 32 or 64GB flavours.
This would put the HTC One Max squarely in the crosshairs of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which is due out around the same time with very similar specifications. This will probably be the powerhouse match-up of the second half of the year, the opening attraction being the HTC One emerging as a legitimate contender to the Galaxy S4 (when HTC can make enough of them).
We’ll have to keep an eye on whether the Mini will actually release this month, but I’m sure it’s the Max that you’re really interested in. Which phablet would you get, the HTC One Max or the Samsung Galaxy Note 3? Let us know in the comments.
