Earlier this month, a trademark submitted by LG was spotted aiming to reserve the rights to the name, “G Pen“. Obviously referring to a stylus, this gave birth to discussions regarding whether LG was starting development of a device with a stylus that would eventually see it go to battle with Samsung‘s phablets. As it turns out, rumours are saying this device will end up being the LG G3’s successor, currently being referred to as the LG G4, and will use the G Pen to try and dethrone the Galaxy Note 4 and its S Pen from atop their perch.
Nothing is certain though, of course, seeing as these are just rumours – LG also has plenty of other devices with styluses that could simply be updated with an annual refresh. Still, that hasn’t stopped rumoured specifications for the LG G4 from spreading, the most interesting of which include a Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB RAM, 20.7 MP rear camera and 3,500mAh. Personally, I’m not inclined to believe any of these rumours yet, apart from the G Pen as that does actually seem pretty logical, but it’s always good to be optomistic; let’s see what LG has in store for us.
