LG: No Plans To Make A LG G2 Google Play Edition

lg g2With the release of every manufacturer’s flagship phone also comes the discussion of whether that flagship will have a Google Play Edition made. The LG G2 is no different and I’m sure that there are many in the Android community salivating over the possibility of a stock Android LG G2 with the power of the Snapdragon 800 behind it. Well, you can roll your tongues back into your mouth because LG has said it has no immediate plans to do this with the G2.

LG PR rep, Ken Hong, said today:

“As of right now, LG doesn’t have any plans for a Google Play Edition. The focus for the G2 is penetration through carriers. That however could change down the road.”

At the very least, the statement does leave the door open for the possibility of a LG G2 Google Play Edition, though clearly it won’t be any time soon. Perhaps LG is already working on something just as good, like the Nexus 5 that has abruptly been dropped off the radar these past few months. I guess only time will tell.

Anybody disappointed by this news? Who would wait for an LG G2 Google Play Edition? Let us know in the comments.
