Another app is picking up a revamped Material Design makeover this week. Microsoft is jumping on board with the guidelines and making it known with the first ever beta release of Microsoft OneDrive. The beta release doesn’t appear to offer anything in the way of feature changes, but it does bring along a snazzy new look to the app for Android users. We are becoming a picky bunch and do want our apps to look good together, even if they are from Microsoft.
The app is a flat blue and white with an oddly chosen orange floating action button. Being the first ever beta release I will hold off on judgment in the color choices. Basically it looks better and seems less complicated.
Getting your hands on the beta release can be done in two ways. One way is to join the OneDrive Preview for Android G+ community. The other is to simply download and install the APK from HERE.
On a side note, Microsoft has been handing out quite a large chunk of storage for users to get their hands on over the last week. You can snag 100GB for 2-years if you join the Bing Rewards program. There is another offer for current Dropbox users to simply sign-in to OneDrive and gain an additional 100GB of storage for one year. I am not sure if they can be stacked or not, but give it a shot if you are looking to bolster you cloud storage options while also checking out the new OneDrive Beta app.
