Motorola Backflip on sale now

AT&T has launched the Motorola Backflip, it’s first Android device, which is running Motorola Blur on top of Android 1.5.

You can get the device, which has Google stripped out, a dated OS, and a weird form factor.  As you can tell this really excites me. It’s available via the AT&T product page where there is only one mention that the phone is running Android, which is at the bottom of the page.

This being there first Android phone I would have expected them to be pushing Android a lot stronger and have more details about Android, however if I was launching this device, and stripped out all the great features, and had an outdated OS, I am not sure I would be so proud either.

I really hope AT&T picks up the ball with their next Android device, because the iPhone won’t be there savor forever.

Android is a growing OS, not to mention that it has tons more functionality than the iPhone.

Anyway, You can pick up a Motorola Backflip from AT&T for the bargain basement price of $99 with a 2 year contract and mail-in Rebate.

Are any of you planning to purchase the Motorola Backflip, or will you wait for the next Android phone? Let us know what you think.
