The current smartphone rate for new devices after carrier subsidy is $199.99 and with the recent launch of the R2-D2 edition device increased to $249.99 then we can only expect that Verizon would follow their pattern and launch their first dual world phone for $299.99 as shown in the image above.
When it comes to wireless carriers, they’re mainly focused on your wallet. This is the first dual GSM/CDMA device on a carrier that is already known for its high prices compared to T-Mobile and Sprint.
Features of the Motorola Droid Pro include:
- Android 2.2
- Motoblur UI
- 3.1″ display
- Full-QWERTY keyboard
- World roaming capabilities (dual GSM/CDMA)
- Advanced E-Mail and Calendar options
With Verizon set to launch four world roaming devices in the future, we’re probably going to see a standard price set for these devices and even though $299 seems a little high this is looking like it’s going to stick.
How do you all feel about paying $299 for a device after subsidy?
