Samsung Galaxy Spica to get Android 2.1 in Q2

Launched in November 2009 with Android 1.5 on board, the Samsung Galaxy i5700 will be upgraded to Android 2.1 sometime in the second quarter of the year (in April, May or June).

The info comes from Telix.pl – they claim that Samsung Poland has confirmed the upgrade, so it must be true.

The Android 2.1 update will be made via the Samsung Kies software suite that should be available through the Samsung Apps application store.

No word yet if the Galaxy i7500 will be updated to a newer version of Android, too. However, Samsung’s next Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy2, will most probably have Android 2.1 at launch.
