Motorola’s Droid 3 Will Feature Locked Bootloaders – Are we at all Surprised?

When Motorola came out swinging in the Android world, they did so in a big way. Then we all found out that their bootloaders were locked down and pretty tricky to crack. Not all devices fell to the way side of the development of course, thanks to a great group of devs that still work around this. Thankfully Motorola said they had listened to the community and planned to unlock the bootloaders, a lot of people rejoiced. We had all hoped that the Droid 3 would be the next major device that they would follow through with their promise on. Sad to say that is not going to be the case. It seems they are going to push that ‘end of 2011’ statement as far as they can.

An admin member of the Motorola Support forum has confirmed that the Droid 3 will join the ranks of the locked down counter parts and keep everyone waiting a little longer for life to become easier. I just hope they don’t wait until late December to follow through.

do you guys think any of these OEM’s will follow through with their promises?
